The above Championships were held within the boundary of Pontefract Race Course, which although reasonably flat it turned out to be quite a testing circuit for our Female and Male athletes who represented the club.
It was really good to see a strong representation of our young runners in the U/13 and U/15 age groups especially, with young Ethan McGlen leading the way in the U/13 Boys with a tremendous 19th position, Ethan has two more years in this age group. The Team also did extremly well finishing in 6th position which consisted of Oscar, Arun Summerfield, Harry Morris and Ben Wardle.
The U/15,s Boys team were all new to this type of competion and it served as a great experience to them all, the team was made up of Will Dixon, Jack Trainor, Tom Brewer, Mathew Wakefield and Thomas Pascal.
Joe Armstrong was making his racing comeback after a lengthy spell out with injury and was using this race as a steppingstone to gain valuable race practice and overall fitness, which I,m sure will benefit him later in the season when full fit.
It was very pleasing to see James Cripwell finishing in such a high position in the Junior Men Championship, as he is just a first year U/20 athlete and to finish in 16th place was an extremely good performance.
Our Senior Men turned out in force as well and were credited with a 10th team position and 2nd North East Team, all runners played there part, there were Conrad Franks, Dan Johnson, Sam Brand, Rob Dobson, Paul Attley, Ross Christie,
Johnny Malley, Steven Medd, Richard Ostell, Chris Hainsworth and Kevin Connelly. The Female section of the club had equal success with the U/13th Team consisting of Grace Varley, Natasha Stephenson, Chloe Wellings, Trudie McCarthy, Innes Curan and Lotte Tickner finished a very creditable 11th position.
In the U/15 Girls Isobel Chaudrey ran very well tinish in 21st position and was very well backed by Elisha Tate and Emma Dixon.
The U/17,s Womans Championship saw Ellie Mohan finsihed a very creditable 20th place and again was supported by Lucy Cotte and Imogen Poore.
Our Senior Woman like our men flew the flag by finishing in a very good 8th position and 2nd North East team, the counters were Mary Ferrier, Faye Buckton, Morvan Lean and Lisa Atkinson.
So well done to all that took part and to the club officials who overseen things on the day.John
