The weekend saw 2 days of fierce competition at the England Athletics National multi-event competition in Sheffield. Lucy Turner (coach Sam Stanislaus) picked up a silver medal in the Northern competition and was placed 7th overall in the National Champs in the U20 age group, with Sophie Bronze (coach Richard Kaufman) 5th in the Northerns and 15th overall. Oliver Whellans (coach Derek Wilcox) also picked up a Northern Silver medal and was 5th overall in the U20 Men. Anthony Hogg (coach Sam Stanislaus)was 2nd at the end of Day 1 but having picked up a hamstring injury decided to withdraw – a great performance in his first year as a Senior. Other athletes coached by Gateshead coaches Sam and Richard also competed well including James Finney and Georgia Bates (who picked up Silver in the Welsh national champs)
