A small number of athletes traveled to Sheffield for the Age Group Championships. On Day 1 Joy Eze took Gold in the U20 Women 60m with her training partner Susan Folorunso finishing in 7th place in the final with a new PB. Millie Wilkinson (with a new PB) and Katherine Bell both progressed to the semi-finals of the U17 Women 60m. Leighton Barber set a personal best in the U20M semi-final to progress to the final of the 60m. Olivia Spurr stepped up to the National Championships confidently to run a PB in the U15 Girls 60m sprint.
In the field events Leila Thompson followed up her Gold medal from the Scottish Champs to take the Bronze medal in the U17 Women Shot Putt.
On Sunday it was the turn of David Race to finish top of the podium taking Gold in the U20 Mens 800m. Rebecca Harrison stepped out in the U17W 60m Hurdles gaining valuable experience at this level.
Both David Race and Joy Eze qualified to represent England at the U20 DNA competition in Madrid with David taking up the invitation so watch out for coverage of that competition. Unfortunately the timing of the event didn’t work for Joy but she will be competing in a couple of weeks at BUCS.
