Good luck to Ali Bailey who takes on the Bob Graham Round attempt on Saturday 22nd May, starting 4am.

Ali…. a goal which seemed extremely distant, has come around all too quickly – this Saturday. As soon as it became apparent that there’d be no racing for the foreseeable future late last year, the BG was the obvious thing to do in the first half of 2021. There wasn’t anything else meaningful enough to motivate me whilst the rest of the world turned upside down.

Below is a link to follow me around the route, if you’ve nothing else better to do on a cold wet miserable Saturday!  It should activate about 3:45am as I make my way to the start line, with me setting out at 4am sharp.

For those not into fell running, the Bob Graham Round is a challenge in the Lake District which takes in 42 mountain summits over 66 miles (106km) accumulating 27000ft (8200m) of elevation.  To contextualise, that’s amassing the height of Mt Everest from sea level, whilst covering 66 miles. You start at Moot Hall in Keswick, at any time you like, and proceed to run over all 42 named peaks, returning to Moot Hall as the finish line.  If you accomplish that inside 24 hours, then you can join the coveted Bob Graham Club.  The club has less than 2500 members in 61 years since its inception in 1960, which denotes the level of success / completion rate isn’t high…
