The 3rd North East Harrier Cross Country League was held on Saturday 26th November at Aykley Heads with a good number of athletes turning out for the club.
In the U11 races Peter Davies ran well to finish in 2nd position just behind the winner. Louis Gibson was in 30th position with a photo finish with Eddie Taggart. They were followed up by Oliver Waldram and Fergus Jarvis. The U11 girls were led home by Robyn Hearn in 15th position and Lucy Jarvis in 21st.
We didn’t have a complete team for the U13 boys but Alex Kay ran well to finish in 11th position and Joseph Johnson came in 24th from the fast pack.
The U13 girls team came 2nd with Ceinwen Bishop in 5th and Tegan Bishop in 7th and Emily Collingwood in 8th from the fast pack. They were backed up by Maeve Taggart and Alice Maguire from the fast pack and Larkin Reid.
The U15 boys team finished in 5th position with Sam Emery 13th, Jack Hendry 21st and Alfie Cook 23rd. they were closely followed by Cole Reid in 25th . Jack, Alfie and Cole were all within 5 seconds of each other from the fast pack.
We only had one competitor in the U15 girls with Elle Sperring running well from the fast pack to finish in 30th position.
We also had an incomplete team in the U17 Men with Matthew Das in 11th position and Matthew Atkinson in 29th.
The U17/U20 Women were 4th team home with Jessica Milburn in 10, Aoife Bell in 15th and Annabel Milburn in 25th . The team were backed up by Sophie Johnstone and Jessica Barrett. All these athletes are still in the U17 age group.
There were some quality athletes in the Senior Men’s race, so the team did well to finish in 8th position with Conrad Franks 10th, Jack Douglas 15th, Fergus Spencer 18th, Daniel Alexander 20th, Sam Hansen 77th, Steven Medd 80th, Phil Jamieson 106th, Anthony Duggan 141st and Michael Potter 162nd.
The Senior Women’s team were 9th in Division 2 with Shona Haston 3rd, Freda Summerfield 17th, Bethany Curran 47th and Suzy Potter 101st backed up by Leanne Parkin in 102nd
The next Harrier league is at Thornley Hall Farm, Peterlee on 11th February so make sure it is in your diary.
