It is with great sadness that Gateshead Harriers & Athletics Club has to announce that its Chairman David Mount has died.

David was diagnosed with cancer at the end of 2016 and after a short illness died on Tuesday 25 April.

David was very proud to be elected Club Chairman in October 2016 and has already enhanced the Club’s reputation as a Club for all. His lasting legacy has been to link the Club with several forces Charities who support sick and injured soldiers and David recently took several Committee members to Catterick Garrison to establish plans to move forward with the link. It is this kind of foresight that has made David standout in the short time he has led the club.

In addition to his role as Chairman, David has been an Official for several years and was the lead person in restarting the Gateshead Harriers Road Race.

David leaves behind his wife Lillian and 2 sons, Richard and Tom.

The Club is thinking of them at this difficult time.
