A few weeks late but massive congratulations to the athletes who competed at the England Athletics Senior Championships on 1st/2nd August.   Representing both the club and the North East Sophie Littlemore threw an outdoor PB of 12.12m in the Shot Putt, Hannah Pringle was busy in both the Long and Triple Jump 5.47/11.61 jumping well considering the windy conditions.   Richard Kilty warmed up before Beijing, running 10.20 in the semi final but later withdrawing from the final of the 100m.   Meanwhile in the F32 Club Competition, Stephen Miller retained his winning streak with a throw of 28.48m.

The following weekend was the turn of the younger athletes with the U17/U15 Combined Events Championships, incorporating the North of England Champs.   In the U17m Cory Watson completed his Decathlon in 9th position overall, with a silver medal in the North of England Champs.  Chloe Smith, who was a little under par on the first day, recovered well on day 2 of the U17w Heptathlon, finishing 23rd overall.

In the U15b Octathlon, Oliver Herring finished in 4th position and Sam Bradley in 5th (1st and 2nd respectively in the North of England Championships).   The U15 girls competed in a Hexathlon with Amelia Bateman in 5th position (2nd in North of England Champs) and Emma Scarborough in 11th (4th in North of England).
