Well done to all our young athletes who competed in the English Schools Cross Country Championships on 16 March at Temple Newsam Park. Leeds.  They not only had to contend with the tough competition but a demanding course with some of the most difficult underfoot conditions of the winter season.

Ines Curran was an excellent 11th in the Intermediate Girls, continuing her return to top form and marginally missing out on an England selection.  Chloe Wellings and Charlie McMillan, despite a heavy fall, also achieved top 100 finishes.

The club’s other runners were Jessica Milburn (Junior Girls), Theo Barron and Will Seager Rooke (Junior Boys), Rosie Hughes (Intermediate Girls), Ethan McGlen and David Race (intermediate Boys), Amy Baker (Senior Girls) and Will Dixon (Senior Boys). The club’s representation was very encouraging with several runners experiencing this level of competition for the first time.

The club’s congratulations go also to India Pentland (Durham) and Sam Charlton (Northumberland), winners of the Senior  Girls and Senior Boys, and Josh Blevins (Northumberland), 2nd in the Junior Boys.  Congratulations also to the other North East runners who finished in the Top 10 to earn their England vests – Great running, well done!
