The senior women finished an amazing 2018/19 season on a high… winning the league!

Finishing third on the day at Alnwick, the team won Division 1 by 5 points, closing a great season with a strong performance among a field of just under 450 runners.

Brigid Dennehy was first counter, coming from the medium pack to finish in a very impressive third position overall, in only her second Harrier League race to date. Lucie Wilkinson gave a strong performance, starting from the medium pack to be second counter for the team, and the ever impressive Jane Giles was third counter, running from the fast pack in what has been a consistently strong performance over the course of the season. Katherine Downie skilfully worked her way through the field from the medium pack to finish as fourth counter for the team.

They were backed up on the day by an impressively strong field consistent of Mairead Power, Aife McSheffery, Elizabeth Raven, Freda Summerfield, Phillippa Pattison, Vanessa Cutter, Maggie Loraine, Julie Richardson, Jackie Phillips, Lisa Atkinson, Leanne Wellings, Debra Scott, Susie Raven, Catherine Ezeoke and Julie Ord.

A special thank you to every runner that took part in races throughout the season, including Charlotte Perkins, Elizabeth O Connor, Emma Masson, Jessica Evans, Julie Rowell, Kim Simpson, Rebecca Bennett, Rosie Jones, Sarah Hill, Stacey Armstrong and Jill Duncan.

Also a special mention goes to coach Mike Dawson, who puts a lot of time and effort into each and every coaching session with the women. Thanks Mike.

Well done to all and very well deserved – roll on xc season 2019/20!
