The club have been informed of the sad death of Joan Long (wife of Stan Long). Joan died on Saturday and had been suffering from dementia. The funeral is at St. Albans, Windy Nook at 1.30pm on Wednesday 24th February with cremation at 2.30pm. Joan was very supportive of Stan and his commitment to athletics – RIP.

Really sorry to hear of Joan’s passing, she was a very prominent supporter within the Club in the 1960’s and covering some 40+ years, Joan travelled all over the country with the Club and giving support to her husband Stan Long (one of the countrys top Coaches) who played a major part in the clubs Road & X-country history.
As well as training from the club, Stan held training sessions from his home, and many times I came straight from School/College to Stan’s and Joan had my tea ready, so great memories RIP Joan

Very sad news. Joan was a lovely person and a huge suppirt, not only for Stan but, for her family and the wider GH and AC family. RIP Joan
