It was the turn of our Masters athletes (last weekend) to show what they can do running in their X-country Champs which were held at the Rising Sun Sports Centre (Wallsend) on a tough undulating course and they did not disappoint.
Conrad Franks continued his great run of form finishing 1st in the whole race and thus also winning the O/35 Championship, and with the three counters all in the first nine to finish, the club came away winning the Team race as well. The other two counters being Steven Asquith and Steven Medd. Steven Medd also finished 2nd individual in the O/40 category, these lads were well backed up by Kevin Connolly, David Wakefield and Peter Grimoldby, (good to see Peter back competing again after change of jobs).
The Ladies were not to be left out either with Jane Giles finishing 4th overall in the race and also winning her age category, while the ever present Maggie Lorraine also won her age category, great running by both Ladies.
Meanwhile at the other end of the country Calum Johnson competed in a very fast high class 10k at Chichester, he finished 4th in the race but smashed his PB and also ducked under the 30 mins barrier, which is tremendous running, his time being 29mins-38sec.
