Richard Kilty is rightly taking all the plaudits for another medal at the European Championships but in the younger age group 2 athletes picked up 5 medals at the Northerns.  Jason Nicholson did the hurdles double with a gold in both the 400m Hurdles and the 100m Hurdles.  Meanwhile Sam Bradley had a busy day with Silver in both the Javelin and Triple Jump and a bronze in the long jump.  Both Sam and Jason are in the first year of their age group so massive performances.  Tristan Grant meanwhile just missed out on a medal finishing in 4th position in the Shot Putt.

The girls also had a good couple of days with Emma Scarborough jumping a big pb in the last round to move her up from 8th to 6 position, she also had a solid run in the hurdles heats finishing in 9th position overall and just missing out on the final and finishing her day with the shot putt.   Ciara Hughes competed in both the 100m and 200m where she finished just outside the qualifiers for the finals.

Well done to all the above athletes for making the long trip to Wigan on a cold and windy (sometimes very wet) weekend.
