Congratulations to all the athletes who competed at the age group Northern Championships in a nice sunny Middlesbrough weekend.

In the U13 age category Jack Halpin won Gold in the shot putt, throwing a championship best performance on the way.   He also stepped up an age group to compete in the U15 discus where he finished in 5th position.  Ava Taperell was on great form to win the gold medal in the 800m in a massive championship best performance.  Silver medals went to Ethan McGlen in the 800m and Joy Eze in the 100m, where it took a photo finish to separate her from the gold medal.  Also in the 100m despite being in the 1st year of the age group Evie Harrison ran well in her heat but did not progress to the final, however went 1 step better in the 200m finishing in 6th position.

In the U15 age group Mollie Kettrick won silver in the 100m and was 6th in the 200m final.  Lucy Giles and Megan Costello ran well in the 200 heats finishing 3rd and 5th respectively but unfortunately out of the automatic qualifier spots.   Lucy also competed in the shot putt finishing in 7th and Megan in a large field of long jumpers.  Alisha Lamb competed in both the Hammer and Javelin.  Natasha Stephenson stepped up an age group to run in the U17 Women 300m final running close to her pb.

In the boys U15 age group Josh McKeown in his first year made both the 100m and 200m finals finishing in 8th and 6th respectively.   Chaz Molina also doubled up and added long jump to a busy weekend.   Matthew Lawson also in his first year in the age group ran well but was unable to progress  to the final in a very strong heat.  In the throws Harvey Mahon competed in both the javelin and shot putt coming 6th and 8th respectively.

Joe Halpin dominated the U17 hurdles races winning both the 100mH and 400mH with Tom Craig in 5th despite running with a slight injury.   Joe also jumped  pb in the Long Jump to take his 3rd gold medal of the weekend.   Harrison Whitfield jumped a massive pb to take the gold medal in the triple jump going over 13m for the first time.   Zac Zuccaroli doubled up in the  throws with a 5th place in the shot putt and 6th in the javelin.   Back in the long jump Emma Scarborough rounded off a good season with 7th in a large long jump field.
