INTRODUCTION

On behalf of the North East Women and Girls Coaching Conference 2015 organising committee I’m delighted to welcome you to our first Coaching Conference directed at women and girls involvement in sport.

The latest sports participation figures indicate that more than 30% of female adults are not taking part in enough sporting activity to stay healthy and women’s sports participation is declining. However, linking with the highly successful ‘This Girl Can’ campaign there has never been a more exciting time to get involved in sport for women in the North East.

We are committed to increasing sport and physical activity levels for women and girls across the Region. We hope that the exciting and diverse range of workshops on offer this evening will ensure that everyone attending the conference will leave with fresh and innovative ideas as to how to engage, develop and retain women in sport.

The Women and Girls Coaching Conference is designed to benefit grassroots through to elite performance coaches. By booking onto the conference you have demonstrated your commitment to provide high quality opportunities for females to access sport. Working in partnership with you and other organisations, we look forward to seeing an increase in sports participation for women and girls over the coming years.
