The club fielded four young athletes teams at the Northern Cross Country Relays on 20 October.  In lovely autumn weather, Graves Park was firm underfoot but the long climbs made it a real test for the runners.

  • An inexperienced under 13 girls team of Aoife Bell, Lucy Oliver and Millie Watson did very well to finish 25th
  • The under 13 boys team of Ben Asquith, Oliver Ezeoke and Noah Curran also ran strongly to finish 10th, another encouraging result, with Ben 19th fastest overall
  • Ines Curran led the first leg of the under 15 girls, with Jessica Ord and Freja Bell, both very new to this level of competition, holding on well so that the team finished 23rd  Ines was 2nd fastest overall.
  • The under 15 Boys were an excellent 5th, close to the medal positions, a welcome return to form for David Race, Theo Barron and Ethan McGlen. Ethan was 5th fastest overall and David Race just outside the fastest 10 runners despite being blocked at the start.

The standard was high in all the races.  Well done to all our runners who produced some promising early season performances and gained valuable experience. Thanks to families for their support and also to the race organizers for hosting another enjoyable event.
