Open/Close Menu The North East's Leading Athletics Club

The harrier league returned to action with only the 3rd actual fixture of the season so far, held in good conditions at Alnwick.

Turnout was reduced for various reason but the young athletes who competed came up with some excellent results, particularly bearing in mind that several had run the National the week before.

We had a winner in the under 11 Boys with Alex Lienard just pipping his Morpeth rival in the final sprint.  Harry Garrett was 6th, Matthew Waters 9th, Patrick Moran 15th and Ben Forster  47th,  completing a good showing in this age group.  Our only girl under 11 runner was Skye Marshall who did well to finish 22nd in her first cross country for some time.

In the under 13 Boys, Thoe Dragoi in 4th and Matthew Das in 6th were first and second fastest overall. The team finished 2nd with James Schweitzer having an encouraging run in 22nd and Sonny Lewins in 34th, running from the fast pack.

We had a team win in the under 13 Girls.  In a strong field, Annabel Milburn was 5th, Millie Watson 10th, and Marina Swift 14th.  Elle Sperring, in her first year of the age group and running from the fast pack, finished strongly in 32nd.

Martin Walker was our only runner in the under 15 Boys.  Relatively new to competing, Matthew finished a creditable 22nd.

In the under 15 Girls, Jessica Milburn was 7th and Anya Crowder 13th.  Both girls are in their first year in this age group.

Our only under 17 runner was Jack Garrett who finished 3rd in a close finish for the minor places.  Well done Jack, the fast pack beckons!

Well done to all of the runners who competed.  Thanks to everyone who supported the athletes and helped with the tent.  Thanks also to Alnwick Harriers, the race organisers and officials for hosting another successful event.
