It has been a massively busy start to the track and field season with all our teams competing as well as some good early season performances at individual events.   Starting with the Mini London Marathon, 3 of our athletes were selected to represent the North East – Ines Curran; David Race and Ethan McGlen.

These 3 were a big miss on the same weekend when the U13 and U15 boys and girls competed in the Northern Premier League 2 fixture at Sheffield.   Despite great performances we had too many gaps in the team, particularly in hurdles, pole vault and middle distance and we lost the match by a small margin of points.

The U17 and U20 team competing the following weekend at Leeds in Northern Premier 2 fared better coming 3rd with just a handful of points covering the top 3 teams.  Again great performances and a sterling support effort from our team of officials who were in charge of all the field events.

Completing a very busy 3 weeks we hosted the Northern Division 2E fixture at Gateshead and our Seniro Men and Women supported by a couple of U17 and U20 athletes won the match comfortably in hot and sunny conditions.

We take a short break from team competition this weekend for the North East Champs.  Good luck to all the athletes competing, I am sure there will be a bumper haul of medals.
