It’s a bit late in the season so not many athletes choose to compete at this championship. However the 3 Gateshead Harrier athletes on show won 2 of the age groups. Georgina Mabbott in her first pentathlon won Gold in the U13 North East Championship and Silver in the Open competition and Philippa Ellis won Gold in both the U17 North East Championship and the Open competition, leading from the first event right through the day. Meanwhile in her first year as an U15 Lily Cassidy was just below her summer peak, not helped by a fierce headwind in the hurdles.
