The club was well represented in the Birtley AC relays with a total of 10 teams representing the club (6 women’s and 4 men’s). The timetable split the men’s masters race from the senior’s race whereas the women’s age groups were all in the same event making it very difficult to work out the results. However, the women’s v35 and overall club B team consisting of Kim Simpson, Freda Sommerfield and Jane Giles finished first in their age group competition with Jane 2nd in her personal age group. The A team finished 10, C team 21 with Maggie Lorraine 2nd in her age group, D team 27, E team 53 and F team 56
The men’s masters competition was led all the way by our masters A team consisting of Conrad Franks, Kevin Connolly and Steven Medd with Conrad finishing 1st overall. The masters B team completed the course in 41st place.
Ethan McGlenn finished a fantastic 2nd in the senior men’s A team first leg and joint 4th overall, he was supported by Paul Waller on leg 2 and Dan Alexander on the 3rd leg with the team finishing 6th . The B team finished in 11th place to complete a successful day all round.
