Superb performances from Daniel Johnson (2nd) and Jackson Creegan (3rd) for Gateshead in the Senior Men’s NEHL race yesterday. Ably supported in the 6 counters by Kevin Connolly (skilfully avoiding pack promotion in 31st), Nigel Camilleri (38th), Glenn Davies (196th) and Marc Elliot (somehow getting through the massive field from the fast pack to 217th). Special mention to me for making it round, despite having both my heels shredded. XC tip – break your new shoes in before racing.
The team finished 5th in division 1 on the day. We need more senior men running at the next fixture!

Our U13 girls were 1st team (7 runners), U15 girls were the 4th Team(4 athletes). We only had 2 U20/17’s out in Cecily Browne & Rebecca Pease, so unfortunately no team points but both had good runs & although there were no teams to score in the U11 group we still had some 10 young athletes participating.
So that leaves us with Senior Ladies & a magnificent 20 athletes (biggest ever) in a massive field of some 308. Whilst it’s impossible to name them all…our 1st 3 counters being Michelle Hood, Caroline O’hare & Sophie Wickham ensured Gateshead were 1st team on the day in Div1. They were well backed up though by all the other athletes who turned out so a great TEAM performance.
