Another busy weekend for our Endurance Athletes over Easter with the last of the seasons Relays – the popular Elswick races on Good Friday, the club were well represented in all races on a very warm day.

The Senior Ladies had a really good turn out with 6 teams, a mix of Vets and Senior Women Teams all competing well in a very large field, with only 3 runners per team. A mention must be given to Chloe Wellings running in her first Senior competition (16 year old) and running on the first leg she had a tremendous run to hand over in 2nd position, Chloe’s time being in the top 5 fastest of the day.

Our Senior Men also had 6 teams running in their race against a very large number of teams, the Men had 4 Senior Teams and 2 Vets Teams so well represented. Matt Linsley ran on the first leg and battled throughout running really well to hand over in 3rd position handing over to 15 year old Ethan McGlen, running his first ever Senior race, he took over on 2nd leg and maintained the clubs position along with competing really well to hand over to James Cripwell on 3rd leg. James used his experience and held off any danger from runners behind pushing to get into the top places, but he maintained his position, he handed over to Dan Alexander who not only maintained the 3rd position but increased the distance on the 4th team a really good Team performance.

The Vets teams (O/40) were also competing in the same race and they were out in force, and they truly performed with the Team of Steven Medd, Kevin Connolly, Martin Slater & Steve Wellings also taking the 3rd team Medals.

On Easter Sunday the North Tyneside 10k was run in very hot conditions, and the clubs Female and Male runners were out in force again, and fresh from his success on Good Friday, Dan Alexander was in there competing at the sharp end of a very large field where he ended up coming home in 2nd position (another great performance). He was backed up well from two lads who had also run on friday, with Kevin Connolly (1st O/40) in 9th position and Paul Waller in 13th, so a really good weekend for the club.
