Over 30 of the club’s young athletes competed Elswick Harriers junior races on Good Friday. The club had two individual wins, a 3rd place and many other good individual performances. Running his first race for the club, Alex Lienard was 4th in the under 11 Boys followed by another debutant, Sam Emery, in 6th place. Alfie Cook was 11th and they were followed in Abdullah Djabali, Matthew Waters, Patrick Moran, Will Telfer, Evan Lewins, Jai Diddee and Connor Barrett. Skye Marshal was first finisher in the under 11 Girls in 9th place followed by Carrie Deighton, Holly Asquith and Sophia Balde. Top performance in the under 13s was Jessica Milburn’s win in the girls race. Anya Crowder and Annabel Milburn were 8th and 9th with Mille Wqtson, Lucy Oliver, Iona Johnstone, Jessica Barrett and Mili Diddee completing another encouraging turnout by the under 13 Girls Noah Curran was 9th in the under 13 Boys closely pursued by William Wells, 12th, and Ben Asquith, 13th. Oliver Ezeoke, Cassius Dornan, Matthew Das, Sonny Lewins, and Tristan Crang completed a fine showing. Ines Curran repeated last year’s win in the under 15 Girls, taking 21 seconds off her course record. Rosie Hughes was 5th and Jessica Ord 11th followed by Sophie Johnstone and Karima Balde. Our only runner in the under 15 Boys, Theo Barron , had perhaps his best run to date with an excellent 3rd place. Well done to everyone who competed and thanks to all for their support.
