Open/Close Menu The North East's Leading Athletics Club

The last eight weeks has seen the Gateshead Throwers very active in participating in virtual throws competitions. From the hugely successful Valhalla Virtual Shot put series with over 300 entrants, including our own Gateshead Harriers Seniors and Juniors, to the Virtual Javelin which, although was smaller in entry list saw, again our Senior and Junior Javeliners spent an enjoyable morning at Silksworth throwing under competition rules.

Across both disciplines we saw some excellent new PB’s showing that the athletes are raring to go once the local competitions get under way. It was also lovely to see that the monies raised from the Valhalla series went towards the Injured Highlanders Charity which is something very close to Jim Holborn Junior, one of our athletes and assistant coaches.

We hope everyone remains safe and enjoys the next few weeks of training and that we do see some local competitions set up in our extended season before the oncoming National competition phase.
