This was a new venue for the 3rd Harrier League of the season, on a very cold windy day and a testing but very fair course, in the Senior Men’s race, there was more than 600 runners from the 3 pack system started on the day.
The club was well represented with runners spread out in the slow, medium and fast packs and battling their way through the field, aiming to be counters for the club. Matt Linsley was first to finish in 11th position (2nd from the Medium pack) he was followed by Will Dixon (U/20) who is in his first year as a Junior Man, he coped well with the distance, the next 4 counters were all running from the fast pack and did a great job working their way through the field having started off 5 minutes behind the mass of slow pack runners. Those counters were James Cripwell, Dan Alexander, Steven Asquith and Kevin Connolly stalwarts of our Senior Team. A good turn out of Senior Men was positive for the club, with the Team finishing in 5th position which again stabilized our position in Division 1 which is a very competitive League, and set up nicely for the next venue at Durham on November 17th.
The club overall had a very successful day with individual and Team successes, we thank all the Club Officials, Coaches and Parents who helped/supported on the day.
Can I just remind everyone, that if you want to be entered for the North Eastern X-Country Championships, you must inform Gordon Bell (Young Athletes) Lisa Atkinson (Ladies) & Steven Medd (Senior/Junior Men) ASAP as entry’s close early November. (IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO)
Thank you.
