Our young athletes were well represented in Heaton Harriers annual races held in excellent conditions on the Town Moor on Remembrance Sunday.

Matthew Waters started the programme with a win in the under 11s Boys pulling clear with a strong finish.  Patrick Moran wasn’t far behind in 3rd and Naimah Michla in her first race for the club was 8th in the girls race.

The day before Theo Dragoi and Matthew Das had led their school to victory in the regional semi final of the English Schools Cross Country Cup.  By Sunday morning, Theo had recovered enough to lead from the start to win the under 13 Boys race.  With Matthew holding on in 2nd and Abdullah Djabali running well in 8th the boys won the team race. Elle Sperring had a good run finishing 5th in the girls race.

In the under 15 Boys, Theo Barron was 4th against some tough local opposition.  Cassius Dornan and Matthew Walker also had strong runs in 11th and 12th.

In the under 17 / 20 s race, David Race returned to form to win the under 17s, after going head to head with the winner of the under 20s.  There was also a fine performance from Charlie Daley in 2nd place.

Well done to everyone who competed, it was good to see bigger junior turnouts in this fixture.
