The club was well represented across the board in the above Championships, everyone who ran gaining a County Vest and representing the North East (a great honor) against all the other Counties across the UK.
In the U20 Womans race the club had 2 representatives in the team of 8 runners, Chloe Wellings continued her impressive season and in her first year in this age group, finishing in 17th position and being 1st counter for the team. Amy Baker was the other representative from the club, Amy has progressed throughout the season is also in her 1st year in the U20’s she more than justified her selection by finishing 3rd counter for the team.
Gillian Manford one of the reserves in the Senior Women’s squad just got called up to run 2 days before the race, and Gillian made the most of her opportunity, really working hard from a last in the pen start to come through the field and finish 5th counter for the team helping them to finish with 3rd team medals.
In the Senior Men’s Championship again the club had 2 representatives the ever consistent Conrad Franks who again just got called up 2 days before plus the clubs National X-country Champion Calum Johnson. Conrad also had to start from the back of the pen, but that did not deter him as he moved through the field throughout the race. Since winning his National title Calum had suffered a little setback in his preparation for this race but being the competitor that he is, he battled through to finish a very creditable 5th placing, and leading the team to 1st place and Gold Medals, a great days competition.
