The 3rd fixture of the harrier league saw another big turnout from our young athletes with over 30 runners again competing.
Harry Hunter was the first of our under 11 boys to finish, followed by Harry Garrett, Alfie Cook, Evan Lewins, Caleb Hewer and Tristan Crang. In the under 11 girls, Skye Marshall led in Lucy Grey, Carrie Deighton and Holly Asquith.
In 11th place, Anya Crowder was our first under 13 girls finisher to 2nd team place chased home by Jessica Milburn, Aoife Bell, Annabel Milburn, Lucy Oliver, Millie Watson and Jessica Barrett. In his harrier league debut, Cassius Dornan was 9th in the under 13 boys with Matthew Das leading our fast pack chasers in 22nd pursued by Ben Asquith, Oliver Ezeoke Luca Shaw and Cameron Milburn.
The under 15 boys were 1st team with Theo Barron 2nd, Will Seager Rooke 3rd in his first race and Jack Garrett 12th . In the under 15 girls race, Ines Curran stormed through to 1st only to be disqualified for inadvertently wearing the wrong number. The team of Freja Bell, Rosie Hughes, in her club debut, and Jessica Ord still did well to finish 4th team.
In the under 17 girls, Jasmine Crang was our only runner, in 35th position. There was a welcome return to racing by Harry Morris finishing 2nd in the under 17 men in which Charlie McMillan ran through to 8th from the fast pack – another encouraging run in a high quality field.
Well done to all the competitors and thanks to families for their support and to the race officials and the hosts, Gosforth Harriers.
Please remember to let me know by 5 November if you want to be entered in the North Eastern Cross Country Championships at Wrekenton on 8 December. I will also take names for the non championship races for under 11s who will be entered separately.
