Fine Return to Competition …  Despite a six month hiatus from competitive athletics due to the lack of open facilities and the health crisis, Sport Newcastle’s Scholar Joy Eze blew away the cobwebs with a fine personal best over 200m at the first of the North East Athletic Association’s Open Meetings at Morpeth on Sunday 18th April. The many difficult hours  of training on frosty fields and running up dark hills certainly paid dividends as Joy ran a time of 24.29 seconds for the furlong event, a time which puts her second on the UK Under 20 women’s rankings. Considering Joy is still only 16 this performance sets her up well for the rest of the season. Joy will be looking to contest the British trials in June.
