It is with great sadness that the Club announces the death of Vera Robson on Saturday 6th April.
Vera has been a member of Gateshead Harriers & AC for many years and held a number of positions including secretary and ladies team manager; she was always available to help out whenever needed and was at the stadium 2 days before her death.
In addition to her work with the club Vera was often found at race meetings around the region helping collate the results prior to publication. In fact as recently as the Elswick Harriers Good Friday Relays she was in the race headquarters working on the results.
She was also a very successful, active athlete and actually won a World Championship age group Road Race medal.
Vera was always a constant companion to her husband Syd within the Club structure and together they attended meetings throughout the whole year. They could often be seen hand in hand walking round the course at the national road relays at Sutton Park.
I’m sure our thoughts and condolences are with Syd and his family at this sad time.
